THANK YOU FOR VISITING
~ Dawn Thayer ~ Sunrise Farm ~ Please thoroughly read the contract. Fill out and return the stallion contract plus the booking fee and other documents as requested in the contract. ~ Please let Dawn Thayer ~ Sunrise Farm know the month you want to breed. We also need to know if your mare is open or in foal and a foaling date and if you intend to breed on foal heat or wait until the first normal heat cycle. ~ Make sure that your vet is currently doing and comfortable doing reproductive work using cooled shipped semen. We do not make referrals. ~ Have a uterine culture done and your mare checked for reproductive soundness. ~ Tease your mare. This will only take a few minutes a day and is very important in the reproductive cycle. ~ Have your vet call us if there are any questions. ~ Please call on the first day of your mares heat and your vet decides on what day or days he would like to inseminate your mare. ~ Sunrise Farm hires Spectrum Horse Services or Town & Contry Vet Clinic for all collection & shipping preparation. They will be responsible for the condition of the sperm. Sunrise Farm will send shipments on the designated days via federal express, USPS or UPS. ~ As a result of our limited shipping abilities we will collect only on Monday thru Fridays, we prefer no weekend shipments (but will at an extra cost & for farm pick up only), so please plan ahead. Not all Friday shipments can be reach at certain address but can be delivered to a pick up station. Any questions regarding the condition of the semen on arrival, please call Spectrum Horses Services or Town & Country Vet Clinic FIRST then Dawn Thayer/Sunrise Farm. Dawn Thayer will tell you which services she will be using before shipment. ~ We strongly suggest that you use the semen within 48 hours of collection for the best chance of pregnancy. Keep the semen in the shipping container and in a cold place ( away from the sun or any heat) until ready to use. It requires very little semen for the vet to check the sperm motility percentage. This must be done on site once the container has been opened for insemination by a license Veterinarian and the motility recorded for Dawn Thayer/Sunrise Farm and Spectrum Horse Services or Town & Country Vet Clininc. A simple is taken on each collection & saved by the Service.. ~ Be sure to have your vet check the mare at 18 to 21 days after the last day bred. An ultrasound test is the best method to detect pregnancy about 30% of all mares will have false heat cycles when they are actually pregnant if your mare is not in foal. We will make additional shipments. ~ It is a common practice to send enough semen per shipment to inseminate a mare two times during her heat cycle and most shipping containers are now manufactured to hold two insemination packets keep the second packet enclosed in the shipping container until used. ~ Over 90% of your mares will get in foal in their first heat cycle, so on the average you will breed the average mare for only two cycles. ~ We use the disposable Container which is reused up to 10 shipments or Equitainer 1 shipping container manufactured by Hamilton Thorn research for shipping cooled semen. It has proven to be very accurate in the cooling down process and will maintain its refrigerated condition under adverse conditions. The Equitainer 1 is a returnable container and a $250.00 refundable deposit is required. I this container is shipped to a Vet there will be not deposit. The disposable container is included in the collection fee & will not require a deposit. We ask for the container to be shipped back. When you make arrangements, we will decide which container will work best for you. You may wish to purchase your own reusable shipping container. We have customers that do. You can call Hamilton thorn research toll free at (800) 367-0266 or (978) 468-4460. ~ We have a fixed chute/collection/ handling fee of $250.00 per collection since we hire an outside source. The mare owner will pay the overnight courier charges at the shipping point required at the destination by Federal Express. An account can be obtained by calling FedEX at 1800- 468-3339. Any special handling, airport or freight deliveries and any other charges Mare owner will be bill for these extra charges within 90 days after shipment. ~ The stallion service contract, a photo static copy of both sides of the mare’s registration papers with the current owner listed and all fees must be on file before semen will be shipped semen is collected on a designated schedule. Mondays thru Fridays. We must be notified 2 weeks prior to shipping & 24 to 48 hours prior to 9:00am central time on the date semen is to be shipped. You may contact us the day prior to day of shipping. All requests for semen shipments shall be filled as received, subject to availability of semen on your choice stallion and at the discretion of the stallion manager. ~ If there is insufficient semen to fill all orders on a given day the stallion manager will determine which orders will be honored. This decision will be based on the information provided by the mare owner/purchasers veterinarian. Rebreeds ~ For a mare to qualify for a free rebreeding (stud fee waived only) she must have been on the last breeders report for that stallion as filed with AQHA, APHA & PtHA. The owner must furnish certification from a veterinarian that the mare died or is open and did not have a foal this year. NO REFUNDS on the stud fee. We also require that the breeding certificate be voided and attached. ~ ~ The contractual obligations must be follow and a licensed Vet must perform all procedures or the stallion owner will consider the agreement null and void (violated).
